Proverbs 10

Proverbs 10

"...the babbling fool will be ruined." (verse 8, 10). Sometimes I say too much. I'm talking and I'm not totally thinking about what I say before I say it. Eventually I say something that as I rehear it in my mind, I really didn't want to say. Now I have to find a way to "un-say it." That only makes it worse. I think Solomon has really hit on something here. Twice in this chapter he writes, "the babbling fool will be ruined" and several times he uses similar phrases. Words are powerful, we must watch what we say, so that we don't dishonor the Lord in any way. Sometimes when we talk without our brain engaged, our true colors come out. This can be good and bad; God dealing with our heart. I'd much rather deal with my heart in private, though. Later on Solomon writes, "even a fool is thought wise if he remains silent" (Proverbs 17:28)

Lord, help me to control my tongue. May I only use it to build others up, to proclaim God's truth, and to share His love.

You have love Proverbs because they just hit you square in the face with truth & wisdom. When I read them they seem simplistic, but living them out is much harder to do! Some of my favorites from Provo 10.

Pro 10:2 Ill-gotten gains do not profit...
This keeps me on the right path. Nothing comes easy and nothing comes free. Forget the Lottery and all the scams. God will bless hard work & prayers.

Pro 10:5 He who gathers in summer is a son who acts wisely, {But} he who sleeps in harvest is a son who acts shamefully...
This motivates me to get up and work! I love to sleep but hard work is good for your body & mind.

Pro 10:9 He who walks in integrity walks securely, But he who perverts his ways will be found out...
I respect the man who has integrity and a Christian man MUST have this in order to be used by God.

Pro 10:27 The fear of the LORD prolongs life, But the years of the wicked will be shortened...
Too many times we focus on this life and not our eternal life. We wonder why so many wicked people are allowed to live long lives here on earth but forget that they will spend eternity in hell.

Pro 10:30 The righteous will never be shaken, But the wicked will not dwell in the land...
If we stand firm in Gods word we will not waver or be shaken. We will stand tall and be able to take on whatever the enemy has to throw at us.

Hope eveyone has a GREAT week and may our Lord Bless you and keep you Safe...Mike

Those of you that know me, know that I can talk. For hours if someone will listen. Yes, this gets me into more trouble than not. I know that God must be teaching me to stay silent because not only am I being told in Proverbs and in the book of James, but also a book that I am reading. So, Mike I agree with you when you said that Proverbs hits you in the face with the truth. Again today, I have to ask the Lord to set me on His path to do His will. Lord, please let only words of edification come out of my mouth.

Pro 10:25 When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever.
As I go through the storms I need to focus on the forever part...as Mike referred to. Thanks for encouraging the review of these words of wisdom. As I pray for wisdom and knowledge of the Lord...His Word is the place to be. Have a blessed day, seeing God all around. Lina

It reminds me to remember that words have power. What we speak about someone else will one day be spoken about us. Ouch!!!!
Lord please keep me from using your gift of words from injuring the soul of another. Help me to speak words that encourage and not words that discourage those around me. In Jesus in Amen.

proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirs up dissention, but love covers over all wrongs.
so many times I will say or do something that will upset someone. However unintentional, it can put walls between us. We have been called to peace and also to love one another. When things come between us, instead of being "right" help us to humble ourselves and to just love the other person how you do Lord. I love how it says love covers ALL WRONGS! I do many wrongs Lord, and you are the only one who can turn them for good. The love of our Jesus demonstrated by his blood and death has covered over all our wrongs!! My love is so small when compared to your love. Help me Lord to love you fully, and to love others the way you love them. Help me to be part of the solution, and not of the problem and fill me with your love Lord.

Proverbs 10, is amazing, it covers every aspect of life, from how a childs behavior effects his or her parents, love and hatred, righteousness versus wickedness, the righteous have a firm foundation, and the wicked shall perish, wisemen and fools, rich and poor, diligent and lazy,In the NKJV what about this prating fool, mentioned twice = babbling, futile foolish words will be thrust down.vs:8 the wise heart recieves commands, fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, humility has to be there for us to realize how big and awesome God is to have that reverance, who are we to boast of ourselves before God,we are nothing without Him.How great is His love for us to leave the majestic places, come to earth and willingly suffer and die for us.Amazing Love, Thank You Lord.
